Professor of Translation at the University of Ottawa, Canadian linguist Lynne Bowker has earned distinction as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. Her most recent project is the Machine Translation Literacy Project, which aims to raise awareness of the ‘conscious’ use of Machine Translation, in order to maximize its effectiveness.
Co-founder of DeepL, one of the top machine translation engines, where he focused on improving and expanding AI technology. He held a postdoctoral position at Google’s research department in New York, and is a former Google Research Scientist. He is now Professor for Artificial Intelligence at the University of Cologne.

He has mostly worked in the field of machine translation (MT) since 2006, which encompasses practically everything from computational linguistics to software engineering and artificial intelligence. He created the hybrid system Chimera, which surpassed all rival systems in English-to-Czech translation from 2013 to 2015.
